6 | Unmasking The EDH Universe With The Creator

Major Spoiler Alert!

Hola Humans,

This month, I'm taking you on a walk through the universe of E DEY HAPPEN. Ivie Lesso, my co-host, isn’t here (I miss her, the kids miss her, we ALL miss her), so I’m hosting this episode alone which is poetic because it’s my birthday month. I turned 27. My back talks back, I hosted an event for over 1000 people, and I caught a cold from all the excitement.

Welcome to your late 20s.

So, what better way to spend it than reflecting on the characters we’ve built and the stories that keep us going?

In Case You Missed It:
Watch Episode 1 and Episode 2 now. Major spoilers in this episode. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Here’s What You’ll Find in This Issue:

1. Production Updates

  • Episode 3 character designs? Looking hot. Crush worthy characters.

  • Background artist onboard? Yes please. The references are to die for.

  • Over 200+ storyboards? We’re crying because this is about to be a long year.

Excerpts from episode 3 storyboards. Does this count as a spoiler?

2. Yatu: The People-Pleaser in a Bot World
Yatu is young, desperate, and trying to prove herself in a world where even NYSD bots are replacing humans. She’s the overachiever who keeps saying yes, even as the floor disappears beneath her. She is, in many ways, all of us.

3. Beju: Blue Boy of the Flooded Future
Beju is the artist who’s chasing his dreams in a flooded city with no infrastructure, no faith in the system, and just enough hope to write music about it. His birthday should be a moment of celebration. Instead, he’s face-to-face with rejection, a tone-deaf gift from his dad, and his own inner voice telling him he’s not good enough. Sound familiar?

4. The Colleagues: One-Liners, Full Lives
We meet Ralph (drowning in children), Jenny (literally homeless), Jude (paying off work lateness debt), and Noah (engineered an ark because, duh, Lagos is the new Atlantis… on a wayyyyy smaller budget). They may be side characters, but they carry the weight of a broken system on their backs.

5. The Prayer That Broke the Room
Beju’s prayer isn’t just comic relief. It’s a lament, a cry for help, and a lowkey roast of the Nigerian government—all wrapped in Sunday school lingo. When you know the Lord can’t fix your city, but at least he can protect you from the dangers and perils of the land, you know it’s serious.

6. Creator Confession
This project has taken years. I started E DEY HAPPEN at 24. I’m 27 now. We’ve released two episodes, and every second has been worth it. Creating this has kept me alive, focused, inspired. I thought I’d outgrow cartoons. Joke’s on me. Animation is my lifeline.

Animation Recommendation: Steven Universe

This month, I’m returning to a show that continues to feed my creative soul—Steven Universe. If you’ve never seen it, let me tell you: the backgrounds alone are a masterclass in visual storytelling. There’s something magical about the soft, imperfect brushstrokes, the way colors bleed beyond the lines, and how everything feels emotionally alive. It’s sketchy in a way that scratches an itch. But beyond the art, what really strikes me is how progressive and emotionally intelligent the show is. It explores identity, healing, and self-worth with a tenderness that makes it more than just a cartoon—it’s a hug in animated form. If you’re looking for something beautiful, layered, and deeply human, this is it.
